This was the view from the car on our way to Charleston.

We have a lot of these growing in our yard.

Easy Rider
I really hate to whine but getting this shot was challenging. My off camera flash takes forever to sync and the mosquitoes were eating us alive. If it’s not the heat that urges me indoors, the mosquitoes will literally chase me inside.
To achieve this shot I set my white balance to tungsten and used a yellow gel on the flash, shutter speed was set at 125 with an aperture of 5.6.

View from Bay Street.

The dock.

The dock part II.

It’s a hot and humid day out today and yet there are a few sitting in front of Wal Mart in this steamy heat collecting money for Wreaths Across America.

Wreaths are placed on the grave markers at state, national veterans cemeteries, as well as local cemeteries each December.

You can purchase wreaths online at www.WreathsAcrossAmerica.org. However for the Beaufort area include this information: Sponsoring Group ID Number: SCDAV12; Cemetery Designation: Beaufort National Cemetery; Cemetery ID Number: SCBNCB. You’ll want to do this for the Beaufort area because $5.00 of the donation will go to help with the purchase of a new van that’s used to transport Veterans to the VA Hospital in Charleston.

Mr. Ron Vogeli in the above photo is the Judge Advocate General and is relentless when it comes to supporting and volunteering for our Veterans.

Sandy, his wife, is relentless in her support of her husband and works diligently by his side. She was worried that she would look like a sweaty rag in her photo but I think she looks great.

Just remember how hot it is today when you’re helping placing the wreaths on the graves in December.

See how happy people are to help a worthy cause!

The mission: Remember Our Veterans; Honor Their Families; and Teach Our Children.

Why don’t you consider helping. December 11, 2010 at Noon is on my calendar to help remember our Veterans.

Boo
This is my friend’s kitty.

Something blue.
Today’s Theme Thursday was to take a picture of something blue.

I have a friend who wanted me to take pictures of Palmetto Trees and I decided to go to Waterfront Park and get some shots of the trees there. When we parked, it started to sprinkle.

Joe and I spent the day together and he was in the candy shop while I stayed outside and found a few things of interest.

One of the candies was Pop Rocks. I never had these before and when I ate a little one of the popping bits hit me in the eye. I didn’t read the package to see if there were any warnings like make sure you eat with your mouth closed.

On our way home we stopped at Rita’s and got Italian Ice. We both got multiple brain freezes.

It was a good day!
